Membership furthers Matrox’s commitment to standards-based video encoding

MONTREAL, Quebec — September 14, 2017 —As part of an ongoing mission to enable high quality, interoperable video, Matrox Graphics Inc. today announced it has joined the rapidly expanding SRT Alliance.
Looking to enhance the value of digital video assets, the SRT Alliance promotes the integration of the SRT protocol, enabling the delivery of high quality and secure low-latency video across the public Internet.
“Matrox believes in the use of true standards-based encoding versus the use of proprietary technologies in AV-over-IP,” said Ron Berty, Maevex product manager, Matrox Graphics. “We believe that the SRT alliance is a step in the right direction to reduce latency while supporting the use of open standard codecs.”
While a complete road map of Matrox-SRT implementation is still in development, incorporation in the powerful Matrox Maevex 6100 and 6150 quad 4K enterprise encoders is expected by end of Q4, 2017.
“As we increasingly look to IP networks for transport of video content, standardized and open technologies—such as H.264—are crucial foundations for lasting and transformative solutions,” reiterated David Chiappini, Matrox vice-president research and development, Matrox Graphics. “Adding to the rich palette of protocols supported by Matrox products, SRT will augment the reach, usefulness, and richness of private and public web-based video.”
